The Conductors (1988 - 91) evolved from Jumble Sale and the lineup consisted of Stephen Bruel (songwriter, lead vocals and bass guitar), Andrew Wass (guitar and backing vocals), Michael Burokas (keyboards and backing vocals) and Christian Fisher on drums (later replaced by Darren Munt). A band bio from the time states the following:
"The Conductors (formerly Jumble Sale) are an established band consisting of four young musicians with a new, enthusiastic, proven and convincing talent. Each of the members originate from various backgrounds with diverse musical influences, which when combined create an original but commercial sound. The band has played the Southern Sydney circuit, having a residency at the St George Rock Room, and several gigs at the Sutherland Royal Hotel, Penshurst Den and the Evening Star. Through successful performances at the recent OZBIKE Competition the band has proven their professional ability. The band now wish to extend their talent and career to the more renowned city venues. Only a few bands ever manage to reap the lucrative rewards in the music industry, but for this young Sydney based band, they can justifiably prove themselves to be an up and coming success in the live and recorded entertainment scene of Australian Rock.
